PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun The third session of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha for the year 2026 will commence at the Bharadisain assembly building in Gairsain, Chamoli on Tuesday. The session will start with the laying of a condolence motion for the former members of the House who had passed away recently. The legislators will express their condolences on the demise of former chief minister major general ( retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri and former cabinet minister Hira Singh Bisht. After the passage of the condolence motion, the State government will table the supplementary budget of Rs 7,400 crore in the house. The Pushkar Singh Dhami government will also table eight bills in the house during the session. The two day session is likely to be stormy with the opposition Congress trying to corner the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on issues of corruption, increasing prices of commodities and crime against women. On Monday, the BJP and the Congress held meetings of their respective legislature parties during which they finalized their respective strategies for the two day session. The leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya said that the State government has convened a short session of only two days as it is afraid of facing the questions in the house. He said that the objective of the government is only to pass the supplementary budget. Arya said that the Congress will organise a massive protest outside the Vidhan Sabha in Gairsain on October 27 demanding justice for Ankita Bhandari. Arya said that the party will raise the issues of corruption in the house. He added that the husband of Minister Rekha Arya has levelled serious allegations of corruption against the minister. The LoP said that the Congress will also raise the issue of women safety and increasing price rise in the house during the VS session.
