
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Haldwani/Dehradun A total of 26 persons have been booked and the the Udham Singh Nagar senior superintendent of police Manikant Mishra has suspended two police officers and reverted the Paiga police chowki personnel to the police line a day after a farmer committed suicide accusing many including the district police of corruption and harassment. The police station in-charge concerned and two other police officers were suspended for negligence while the entire police team of the Paigan police chowki was reverted to the police line. It will be recalled that farmer Sukhwant Singh shot himself in a hotel room in the wee hours of Sunday after going live on social media accusing more than a dozen persons of duping him in a property deal while also accusing the district police of corruption. Taking cognisance, Mishra ordered the suspension of ITI Kotwali in-charge sub-inspector Kundan Singh Rautela and sub-inspector Prakash Bisht with immediate effect. A total of 10 police personnel of the Paiga police chowki including its in-charge Jitendra Kumar have been reverted to the police line. Mishra said that any type of negligence will not be tolerated in policing, adding that swift, impartian and sensitive action is the responsibility of the police. Meanwhile, the inspector general (Crime, Law and Order) Sunil Kumar Meena said that the police headquarters has sought a report in the matter. Action will be taken against anyone found involved in the case. Taking serious cognisance of the case in which the Kumaon commissioner has ordered a magisterial inquiry and the chief minister has directed necessary action, Meena said that the police headquarters has sought reports from all officers concerned. Necessary departmental and legal action is being taken, and directions have been issued from the headquarters to take action against anyone found guilty in the case.
