5 braves from U'khand attain martyrdom in Kathua terrorist attack Wednesday, 10 JULY 2024 | my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN The five soldiers who died in a terrorist attack in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday are from Uttarakhand. A vehicle of the Indian army was ambushed by terrorists in Machedi area of Kathua district in which Naib Subedar Anand Singh Rawat, Havildar Kamal Singh, Naik Vinod Singh, Rifleman Anuj Negi and Rifleman Adarsh Negi attained martyrdom. The mortal remains of the martyrs were flown to Dehradun airport on Tuesday afternoon from where they were taken to their homes located in Pauri, Rudraprayag and Tehri districts. A ceremonial guard of honour was given to the martyrs at Dehradun airport in presence of senior officers of Army and Police. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, former CM and Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat, cabinet ministers Ganesh Joshi and Premchand Agarwal and officers of State administration placed floral wreaths on the caskets containing the bodies of the dead soldiers. The family of Naib Subedar Anand Singh resides in Nathuwala of Dehradun. He belonged to Kandakhal of Rudraprayag district. The wife of martyr Havildar Kamal Singh resides in Padampur area of Kotdwar with their two daughters. After receiving the shocking news of death of Kamal Singh, the family left for their native village Noudanu village in Lansdowne tehsil of Pauri district. The family of Naik Vinod Singh resides in Bhaniawala of Dehradun, His father Vir Singh Bhandari is an ex serviceman. He was the native of Chaund- Jaspur village of Jakhnidhar block of Tehri district. Rifleman Adarsh Negi (26 years) was the native of Thatti Dagar village of Devprayag in Tehri district. He joined the Indian army in the year 2018. His father Dalbir Singh Negi is a farmer.  Rifleman Anuj Negi was the resident of village Dobariya of Rikhnikhal block of Pauri district.
