Tuesday, 08 October 2024 | my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government has freed more than 5,000 acres of land from encroachment in the last three years.  Addressing a programme organised at the Amrapali University in Haldwani on Monday, the CM said that in the last three years more than 17,000 youngsters were appointed in various departments of State government.  He said that the State government has also provided 30 per cent horizontal reservation to women in government jobs and soon the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented in the State.  The CM averred that the GSDP of the State has increased by 1.3 times in the past 20 months and in the past two years the per capita income has registered a growth of 26 per cent. The unemployment rate in the State has decreased by 4.4 per cent and in the NITI Aayog’s list of the States on the sustainable development goals, Uttarakhand has secured first position in the country. Dhami said that the work on improving infrastructure of colleges and universities is underway and 20 model colleges have been established. In the general budget the State government has made a provision for Rs 1,700 crore on youth welfare, sports, higher and technical education.  The CM said that he feels energised whenever he comes to any programme of the youth. He said that the youngsters of the State are showing their skills in technology, art and sports. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the entire world is recognizing the knowledge and power of India. In the last 10 years, India has emerged as a major power. Quoting Swami Vivekananda, the CM said that one should recognise the power that lies within everyone and appealed to the youth to move forward with a positive mindset.  Lok Sabha MP Ajay Bhatt, position holder Anil Dabbu, Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat, deputy inspector general of police Y S Rawat, district magistrate Vandana Singh and others attended the programme.
