State cabinet to decide on date of formal implementation of UCC in State Saturday, 19 October 2024 | my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN The regulations and implementation committee headed by former chief secretary Shatrughna Singh handed over the draft of the regulations for Uniform Civil Code (UCC) to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the State secretariat on Friday. The State government will now get the rules draft of the UCC examined from legal and legislative point of views and then table it in the cabinet.  After the approval of the cabinet the UCC will be formally implemented in the State.  The draft submitted by the Shatrughna Singh committee has four parts in which the process of registration of birth and death, marriage, divorce, live-in relationships and inheritance are mentioned.  Speaking on the occasion, the CM congratulated the committee for its hard work and meticulous effort in preparing the draft of UCC regulations. He said that a meeting of the State cabinet will be held soon in which the date of implementing the UCC rules in the State will be decided. He said that training will be imparted to the officers and employees on the regulations of the UCC. The CM said that a portal and mobile application of UCC rules have also been created for the convenience of the general public. The portal and app will help in online availability of registration and appeal facilities under UCC to the general public. He said that the objective of the UCC is to ensure justice to all the citizens in Uttarakhand in a uniform manner. The UCC act also keeps in mind the security and empowerment of women. The CM averred that the act will soon be implemented which will give the honour to Uttarakhand to become first State in the country to implement UCC after Independence. The members of the UCC regulation committee social worker Manu Gaur, Doon University vice chancellor Surekha Dangal, additional director general of Police Amit Sinha and resident commissioner Ajay Mishra were present on the occasion of handing over a draft of UCC regulations to the CM.     The vice president of State infrastructure monitoring council Vishwas Dawar, additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, secretaries Shailesh Bagauli,  Vinay Shankar Pandey, special secretary Ridhim Agarwal, Information director general Banshidhar Tiwari and others were also present on the occasion.
