
Flowers showered on Kanwadiyas, Dhami washes feet of devotees PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | HARIDWAR The world’s tallest 251-feet saffron flag will be erected on the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar by the Ganga Sabha and Bhartiya Nadi Parishad. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made this announcement on Thursday at an event here where he also washed the feet of some Kanwadiyas. A helicopter also showered flowers on Kanwadiyas who have arrived here to fetch water from the Ganga. Dhami congratulated the police, all administrative officials and the Haridwar Roorkee Development Authority for the successful management of the Kanwad Yatra. Stating that a large number of Kanwadiyas cover long distances from different parts of the nation to fetch water from the Ganga in Haridwar to offer Abhishek to Lord Shiva, he said that this pilgrimage is not only a symbol of devotion and faith but also provides a chance for serving. He said that more than one crore Kanwadiyas had departed for their destinations from Haridwar during the Kanwad Yatra so far this year. Dhami said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, various works are also underway for cultural preservation and revival along with the developmental works. He said that PM Modi had also done the task of making the Adi Kailash Yatra famous around the world. Modi is the first PM who reached an altitude of 17,000 feet for Darshan of Adi Kailash and Parvati Kund, Dhami said. Under the PM’s guidance, the construction of the Haridwar-Rishikesh corridor is also proposed. Stating that the State government is working on its commitment to making the Kanwad Yatra convenient and safe, he said that a special mobile application had been introduced for the first time, in addition to health centres, toilets, parking, extension of tin sheds and adequate arrangement of rest stops The CM also appealed to the devotees to ensure that their Yatra does not cause inconvenience to others. All should follow the rules to ensure that there is no disruption, he stressed.
