
Directs formation of expert committee to study pattern of recent disasters PIONEEREDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to provide Rs five lakh assistance each to owners of homes completely damaged at Tharali, Dharali and other disaster affected areas. The next-of-kin of the deceased will also be provided Rs five lakh. Dhami issued these instructions at the State Emergency Operation Centre on Saturday evening while reviewing relief and rescue efforts at the disaster-affected Tharali in Chamoli district. He said that those rendered homeless in Tharali should be provided temporary accommodation while work on rehabilitating them should also be started. He directed the district magistrate and other officials to ensure that electricity and water supply along with the road network and supply of essential commodities is restored in the affected area. Special focus should be laid on the quality of the ration and other relief material being distributed to the affected persons, he said. Dhami appreciated the Chamoli district magistrate, State Disaster Response Force and National Disaster Response force for the prompt rescue and relief efforts. Considering the heavy rain orange alert in the State for the next two days, all district magistrates have been directed to be prepared to take necessary action. The CM also directed that a committee of experts from reputed agencies be formed to study the pattern of disaster witnessed in Dharali, Saiji and Tharali and prepare a report. Chief secretary Anand Bardhan and other officials were also present in the meeting.
