
PIONEEREDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government is making every effort to fulfil the ideals and dreams of the statehood activists. The CM participated in a programme organised to pay tributes to the martyrs of the statehood movement in Khatima on Monday. He said that the government has provided 10 per cent horizontal reservation in State government jobs for statehood activists and their dependents. Dhami said that a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 has also been started for the families of martyrs and a pension of Rs 6,000 is given to statehood activists who got injured or were jailed during the statehood movement. He said that the government has decided to provide the benefit of reservation in jobs to the abandoned, widowed and divorced daughters of the identified statehood activists. The CM added that the statehood activists are also being provided the facility of free travel in buses of State Transport Corporation. Lauding the role of women in the statehood movement, Dhami said they participated in the movement with great enthusiasm. He said that in recognition of their role in creation of Uttarakhand, the state government has implemented the decision of granting 30 per cent horizontal reservation in government jobs for the women of the State. The CM said that the State government has taken many historic decisions in the interest of the people of the State. He said that Uttarakhand is the first State in the country which has implemented the Uniform Civil Code. The most effective anti-copying law of the country has been implemented in Uttarakhand, after which more than 24,000 youth have succeeded in getting government jobs, he said. The CM averred that the State government is continuously working with full commitment to conserve the demography of Uttarakhand. He said that more than 7,000 acres of government land has been freed from encroachment. Paying glowing tributes to Bhagwan Singh Sirola, Pratap Singh, Rampal, Salim Ahmed, Gopichand, Dharmanand Bhatt and Paramjit Singh who were martyred in Khatima firing, the CM said that the every citizen of Uttarakhand will always be indebted to them. Lok Sabha MP Ajay Bhatt, district Panchayat president of Udham Singh Nagar Ajay Maurya, MLA Bhuwan Kapdi and others attended the programme.
