
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the cleanliness movement in the country has gained momentum and reached new dimensions. He was addressing a programme organised to launch the Swachh Utsav – 2025 at Gandhi Park here on Wednesday. Extending his greetings to PM Modi on his birthday, the CM also extended greetings to the people of the State on Lord Vishwakarma Jayanti. He also gave the message of cleanliness by sweeping the Park ground and appealed to all the citizens to join the cleanliness drive. The CM said that regular programmes related to sanitation and service will be organised across the State from September 17 to October 2 ( Gandhi Jayanti) under Sewa Pakhwada. On this occasion, he also paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. In the programme he also administered the oath of cleanliness to those present and also planted a sapling. He also flagged off the Swachh Bharat Rath and also felicitated the sanitation workers. “Swachh Utsav-2025 is also a resolution, a movement and a promise of a healthy and clean future for future generations. It is the responsibility of all of us to realize the dream of ‘Clean India, Healthy India’,’’ he said. The CM said that in the recent Clean Air survey conducted under the National Clean Air Programme, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) got 19th rank in the country. The MCD also achieved 62nd place in the cleanliness ranking this year, an improvement over previous years. So far, toilets have been constructed for more than 600,000 families in the state who lacked toilets, he said. The CM said that the MCD has set up a control room for quick redressal of sanitation related problems. The CM opined that cleanliness is not just a government campaign, but a part of our culture and lifestyle. He called on all citizens to consider it their responsibility to keep their homes, neighborhoods, villages, and cities clean. Emphasizing environmental protection, Dhami mentioned the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign and said that tree plantation is a means to improve the quality of life and ensure a clean environment for future generations. Cabinet ministers Satpal Maharaj and Subodh Uniyal, MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal and others attended the programme.
