
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun The Uttarakhand government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under a retired Uttarakhand High Court judge to investigate the question paper leak during the graduate-level recruitment examination held on September 21 under the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC). Chief secretary Anand Bardhan stated on Wednesday that the SIT will submit its report to the government within one month. He informed during a Press conference that the SIT will function under the supervision of the retired judge while an officer of additional superintendent of police level will lead the probe. He said, “The jurisdiction of the investigation will cover the entire State. The retired judge will also move across different locations in Uttarakhand and anyone with relevant information can directly approach the SIT or the judge.” The chief secretary also stated that the government has directed the SIT to complete the inquiry within one month and submit its findings. He added that until the investigation is completed, the UKSSSC will keep the recruitment process and declaration of results for the examination on hold. Bardhan informed that the official order for the SIT will be issued by Thursday and the team will begin work immediately. He stated that the State government prioritises the transparency and integrity of the examination system, as well as the interests of the candidates. He said that strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the SIT investigation and necessary steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. Besides this, strict action will be taken against anyone found negligent at the Haridwar examination centre, which is at the centre of the controversy. Bardhan said that the government’s interests are paramount for students and it is equally important that students and the public maintain confidence in the examination system.
