
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that any form of religious extremism and attempts to create anarchy in the State will not be tolerated. In a statement the CM said that strict action has been taken against those who were involved in the attempt to create communal tension in Patelnagar area of Dehradun on Monday night. He said that the incident is a conspiracy to disturb communal harmony during the period of festivals and religious ceremonies. The CM claimed that there are some forces which are not happy at the progress made by India and the ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat campaign’ under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Such elements are involved in disturbing peace and instigating communal tension and support and depend on the politics of appeasement,’’ he said. In an oblique reference to ‘ I love Mohammad’ campaign, the CM said, “If you love and respect someone then it should reflect in the behaviour and should not manifest in form of religious bigotry and riot.’’ On a stern note, the CM added that Uttarakhand is Devbhoomi, the abode of gods where tge Char Dham are located and where Adi Kailash, Mahasu devta temple, Dhari Devi, Purna Devi and Jageshwar Dham are situated and the attempts to create communal disturbance here will not be tolerated. He said that the State government has enacted the stringent Anti-Riot act to deal with such elements and the damage to the government and private property in the riots will be compensated from the rioters.
