Rishikesh, 10 Oct: THDC India Limited has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat for the development of the 2,210 MW Anjan Kund Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Dang district, Gujarat. The project entails a planned investment of approximately Rs13,200 Crores.
The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendrabhai Patel on 9 October during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences held at Mehsana, Gujarat.
On the occasion, Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Consumer Affairs & Food and Public Distribution; Kanubhai Desai, Minister of Finance, Energy, and Petrochemicals, Gujarat; Pankaj Joshi, Chief Secretary, Gujarat, Manoj Kumar Das, Additional Chief Secretary, Gujarat; SJ Haider, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy & Petrochemical Department, Gujarat; Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC; Bhakti Shamal, Joint Secretary (Renewable Energy), Gujarat; and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
RK Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDCIL, extended his heartfelt best wishes and termed the MoU a milestone achievement in strengthening India’s energy infrastructure. He emphasised that this project exemplifies THDCIL’s vision of developing large-scale energy storage systems that facilitate round-the-clock renewable power and bolster grid stability.
Vishnoi also highlighted THDCIL’s proven leadership in this space, referring to the successful execution of India’s largest Pumped Storage Project, the 1,000 MW Tehri PSP, developed by a CPSE. Under the terms of the MoU, the Government of Gujarat will provide necessary State-level support, while THDCIL will spearhead the project’s development.
AK Vijay Kumar, Special Officer, THDCIL, was also present during the singing of the MoU between Ajay Prakash, Managing Director (GPCL), on behalf of Government of Gujarat, and Neeraj Verma, Executive Director (I/C, NCR) on behalf of THDC India Limited. MK Jain, GM (PSP-Solar), SK Mittal, AGM (PSP-Solar), Shiv Raj Chauhan AGM (I/C, WPP) and other officers were also present.
THDCIL also showcased a stall during the event, which drew significant visitors’ attention and footfall.
