
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that a Border Area Development Council would be constituted to expand facilities and services in border areas of the State. He made the announcement after inaugurating the fourth Seemant Parvateeya Bal Vigyan Mahotsav in Guptkashi, Rudrapryag district on Wednesday. Dhami said that innovation centres will be established in border districts of the State where useful information and training related to disaster management, health, and education will be provided. In the programme, the CM interacted with child scientists the issues of climate change, natural water resources and conservation, disaster management, science and technology, and energy conservation. He expressed hope that the event will provide new direction and opportunities to talented child scientists from the border districts. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is scaling new heights in innovation, research, and self-reliance. “The pace and direction of New India will depend on innovations in science and technology. Powered by new scientific technologies, India is now surging ahead in various fields, including space. The country’s fifth Science City is set to be built in Dehradun,’’ he said. Dhami added that most services are being made available online to ensure transparent and effective services to the public. In the programme, the CM directed the district magistrate of Rudraprayag to prepare an action plan for the construction of a disaster management centre in the district. He also announced a grant of Rs 50 lakh for various works at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Bansu Jakhdhar. The CM honoured Kalyan Singh Rawat recipient of Padma Shree and entrepreneur Indra Singh Rawat on the occasion. The theme of the festival this year is ‘climate change adaptation strategies and disaster risk management integration’. Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal, district Panchayat president Poonam Kathait, deputy chairperson of Women and Child Development Aishwarya Rawat, director general UCOST Durgesh Pant and others attended the programme.
