PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh greeted the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Deepawali, Govardhan Puja and Bhaiya Dooj. In a statement on Saturday, the governor said that the holy festival of Deepawali conveys the message of light over darkness and the victory of truth over falsehood. The governor said that Govardhan Puja symbolizes Lord Krishna’s compassion, protection of environment and reverence for nature. He urged everyone to understand their responsibilities toward nature and contribute to its protection. Extending greetings on the occasion of Bhaiya Dooj, a festival of brotherly affection and trust, the governor said that such festivals strengthen our social ties and convey the message of unity and love. Wishing happiness, peace, health and prosperity to all the people of the State, the governor said that these festivals will infuse new energy and positivity in everyone’s life.
