Dehradun, 6 Nov: As part of the state’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, Graphic Era University hosted exciting inter-university competitions in handicrafts and culinary arts. Graphic Era secured the first position in both categories.
A Handicraft and Multi-Cuisine Exhibition was organised at Graphic Era University, here, today. Addressing the event, Chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Padma Shri awardee Prof Harmohinder Singh Bedi said, “Our culture is not just our heritage — it is our identity, our soul, and our inspiration. Modernity does not mean forgetting our roots but understanding them more deeply.”
He urged students to preserve and take pride in Uttarakhand’s rich folk culture, art, and traditions. Vice Chancellor Dr Narpinder Singh also addressed the gathering.

Around ten universities from across Uttarakhand participated in the exhibition, presenting the state’s vibrant folk traditions, traditional crafts, and unique culinary heritage with grandeur. Students showcased their creativity and skill through Geru Alpana, Kumaoni Pichhora, intricate handicrafts, and attractive wooden artworks. In the culinary section, dishes like mandua cookies, ragi cake, millet and jowar mathri, mandua muffins, ragi laddoo, and gulab jamun beautifully combined traditional flavors with modern tastes, leaving everyone delighted.
In the Handicraft Exhibition, Graphic Era University won the first prize, Shri Ram Himalayan University secured the second, and Kumaon University stood third. In the Multi-Cuisine Exhibition, Graphic Era University again claimed the first prize, followed by Government Barkot Degree College and Patanjali University sharing the second position, and Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University securing third place.
The exhibition was organised by Graphic Era Deemed University. Present on the occasion were Registrar Dr. Naresh Kumar Sharma, Associate Dean of Student Welfare and Associate NCC Officer Dr. (Captain) D.C. Pande, HOD of Hospitality Management Dr. Amar Dabral, along with faculty members and students.
