Dehradun, 9 Nov: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while extending greetings on the Silver Jubilee of Uttarakhand’s State Formation Day, today, warmly welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the FRI campus where the main function of the state formation day was held and described his presence on the historic occasion as a matter of great privilege for all Uttarakhandis. Dhami began his address by paying tribute to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation’s defence, as well as to the martyrs and activists of the Uttarakhand statehood movement, before extending heartfelt best wishes on the State Formation Day.
In his welcome address, Dhami asserted that PM Modi’s works and words are very inspiring indeed and asserted that he draws much inspiration from the PM. Quoting the scriptures, Dhami said, “Raja Dharmasya Kaaranam”, meaning that when the ruler is righteous, the welfare of the people is ensured. The CM claimed that this proverb is a true reflection of the Prime Minister’s divine, inspiring, and duty-bound personality. He added that, under Modi’s leadership, India’s armed forces had displayed remarkable courage and unity in teaching the enemy a tough lesson during ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Dhami claimed that Uttarakhand, a state conceived and nurtured by Bharat Ratna awardee Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is steadily moving towards becoming a prosperous and self-reliant state by 2047, guided by the mantra of “Viksit Uttarakhand for Viksit Bharat”. He asserted that under the inspiring leadership of the Prime Minister, the state has presented a golden picture of transformation before the world through grand events such as the Global Investors Summit, the G-20 conference meetings, and the 38th National Games.
Dhami also acknowledged that, during crises like the Kedarnath tragedy, the Silkyara tunnel accident, the Joshimath land subsidence, and other natural disasters, the PM had stood firmly with the people of Uttarakhand with deep sensitivity. He said that it was due to the PM’s affectionate guidance and cooperation that Uttarakhand had overcome difficulties and was now advancing with renewed strength, resolve, and energy.
The CM further stated that the state government is committed not only to development but also to the preservation of Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage, traditional identity, and demographic balance. He emphasised that, through initiatives such as the Uniform Civil Code, the Anti-Copying Law, the Anti-Conversion Law, the Anti-Riot Law, and the dissolution of the Madrasa Board, Uttarakhand is progressing towards building a harmonious and just society.
Among those present on the occasion were Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, former CMs of Uttarakhand, MPs and MLAs along with several other dignitaries.
