
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun The State government has constituted a two-member cabinet subcommittee on the issue of regularisation of Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) workers. Cabinet ministers Subodh Uniyal and Saurabh Bahuguna are the members of this important subcommittee. In its meeting held on November 12, the State cabinet had decided to constitute a cabinet subcommittee on the issue of UPNL workers and had authorised chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to nominate members to the cabinet subcommittee. After holding discussions with all the stakeholders and going through the legal and financial ramifications, the cabinet subcommittee will recommend the process of regularising services of the UPNL workers. It will also decide the cut-off date for regularisation of the workers. The subcommittee will submit its report within a period of two months to the government. The report submitted by the cabinet subcommittee will be significant for the UPNL workers. The Finance secretary and Soldier Welfare secretary will be the member secretaries of the cabinet subcommittee. There are more than 22,000 UPNL workers in different government departments in Uttarakhand. The UPNL workers are demanding regularisation of their services. In 2018, the Uttarakhand High Court (HC) had directed the State government to follow equal pay for equal work policy on the issue of UPNL workers.
