
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has urged everyone to contribute to the transparency of transactions by requesting a bill for every purchase and to actively participate in the State’s development. He made this appeal while distributing prizes to the winners of the “Bill Lao-Inam Pao” scheme at an event held on Tuesday. A total of 1,888 consumers received prizes under the scheme, which ran from September 1, 2022 to March 31, 2024. The prizes include two electric vehicles (EVs), 16 Maruti Alto K-10 cars, 20 EV scooters, 50 motorcycles, 100 laptops, 200 smart TVs, 500 tablets and 1,000 microwaves. During the event, the CM highlighted that this innovative scheme, launched in 2022 by the government, aims to connect public participation with revenue collection. Over the three years since its inception, the scheme has successfully raised awareness among the public. The CM emphasised that every bill contributes to the State’s development. Further, the scheme has not only become a significant tool for consumer awareness but has also established a sense of shared responsibility between consumers and the business community. Dhami said that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past 11 years, the country has worked to foster a new confidence in business, entrepreneurship and creativity. The State government is also committed to creating a favourable environment for investment and entrepreneurship through initiatives like the ease of Doing Business and the Business Reform Action Plan. He said that the State has successfully kept its fiscal deficit within the prescribed limits. This achievement has garnered national recognition, as highlighted in a recent report by the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management, which ranked Uttarakhand among the States with the best financial management in the country. Additionally, Uttarakhand ranks at the top in the national index of sustainable development goals, he said. Principal secretary RK Sudhanshu stated that 90,000 consumers participated in the scheme, submitting 6,50,000 bills for purchases worth Rs 270 crore. Tax commissioner Sonika informed that a total of 1,888 individuals were awarded prizes under the scheme.
