Dehradun, 1 Dec: Firm action has been taken against Yunus Ansari, a guest teacher accused of molestation and sexual harassment of students in Chamoli district. The Principal of Government Inter College (GIC), Gauna, has terminated the contract of the accused teacher with immediate effect and removed him from service. Additionally, on the basis of a written complaint submitted by the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Dasholi, a case has been registered against him under the POCSO Act.
Yunus Ansari, a guest lecturer of Political Science at GIC Gauna, has been accused of sexual misconduct and molestation of students. Acting promptly on the complaint filed by parents, departmental officials took disciplinary action and cancelled his contract, thereby removing him from service. The Principal of GIC Gauna has issued formal orders regarding the contract cancellation.
Officials stated that the accused teacher was appointed as a guest lecturer (Political Science) in 2015. Recently, parents levelled serious allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct against him. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a meeting of the School Management Committee and Parent Association was convened at the school level. Based on the discussions, a demand for strict action was sent to higher authorities.
Accordingly, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Chamoli directed the Principal of GIC Gauna to ensure cancellation of the accused teacher’s contract. The CEO also instructed the Principal to submit a factual explanation within two days regarding the negligence observed in the matter. Departmental officials further stated that the BEO Dasholi has lodged a POCSO case against the accused teacher at Chamoli Kotwali Police Station, and the police have begun their investigation.
