Haldwani, 3 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami arrived in Haldwani on a one-day visit today and was received with bouquets by the District Magistrate, SSP and MLAs at the Gola Par helipad. During a brief interaction, State President of the Kisan Morcha and progressive farmer Narendra Mahara thanked him for increasing the Minimum Support Price of sugarcane and presented a sugarcane stalk to express his appreciation. The Chief Minister then proceeded to the Ex-Servicemen Conference organised at the CRPF Centre in Kathgodam.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Dhami declared that no soldier is ever an ex-serviceman, as they remain extraordinary throughout their lives. He noted that even after retirement, they continue to contribute to society with the same spirit of service. He said his heart becomes emotional whenever he meets soldiers and added that he understands the nature of life in a military family.

The CM reiterated that the government has honoured the valour of soldiers by significantly increasing the ex-gratia amount and has initiated the construction of honour arches at martyrs’ memorials so that future generations may learn about their bravery. He informed those present that a system has been put in place to provide government employment to one member of a martyr’s family, under which 28 families have already received appointments. He affirmed that all decisions of the government reflect its commitment to the welfare and dignity of soldiers.
Dhami further stated that strict action is being taken against systematic attempts to alter the demography of Devbhoomi. Referring to what he called ‘Land Jihad’, he said more than 10,000 acres of government land have been reclaimed from encroachments. He also emphasised that the government has fulfilled its electoral commitment by implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, making it the first state to enforce it on the ground. He further asserted that the government stands by every promise it makes, believing firmly in completing what it commits to the people.
