DEHRADUN, 4 Dec: The Opposition is misleading the youth of the state regarding the recruitment of Nursing Officers in the Department of Medical Health & Family Welfare and the Department of Medical Education, according to State Health and Medical Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat. In reality, the recruitment is being conducted by the Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board strictly in accordance with the provisions laid down in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Nursing (Non-Gazetted) Service (Amendment) Rules, 2022.
Responding to the allegations made by opposition parties, Rawat said that the Opposition has always misled the youth of Uttarakhand. He alleged that the opposition is disturbed by the State government’s employment-oriented policies and is therefore attempting to misguide young people. Rawat stated that the government has been consistently providing job opportunities to unemployed youth. In this sequence, 103 posts in the Health Department and 587 posts in the Medical Education Department have been advertised for the recruitment of Nursing Officers through the State Medical Services Selection Board.
He clarified that recruitment will be conducted transparently as per the provisions of the 2022 rules. He further explained that, earlier, due to the immediate requirements of the departments, the long gap since the last recruitment, and strong demand from the youth, a one-time relaxation was granted by the state government allowing recruitment through year-wise merit instead of a written examination. This process was completely transparent and benefited only the youth of Uttarakhand—not candidates from other states. Rawat emphasized that this was a one-time procedure, and future nursing recruitments will be conducted strictly through written examinations as per rules. He added that the requisition for the new recruitment was sent to the Selection Board based on demands from the youth.
Rawat described the statement made by State Congress president Ganesh Godiyal—regarding the Nursing Officer recruitment—as a reflection of frustration and lack of information. He said that Opposition leaders have no achievements to present before the public, and therefore, have developed insecurity of the government’s success.
Rawat added that history has shown that no political party can succeed merely by criticizing the ruling government without presenting its own achievements. Challenging the Opposition, he said that if they genuinely care about the people of Uttarakhand, they should present before the public the work done by Congress governments since the formation of the separate state and set an example of healthy politics.
He said that the people of Uttarakhand are educated, aware, and fully capable of understanding which political party truly works in their interest. According to Rawat, the Opposition is rattled by the government’s welfare policies and development works, and therefore, making false allegations has become their habit.
