Dehradun, 8 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in and inspected the Ceremonial Parade organised on the occasion of the Home Guards Raising Day at Nanurkheda, here. today. During the programme, he also released the Home Guards and Civil Defence Department’s Souvenir 2025 and the Departmental Calendar 2026, and also distributed cheques to the dependants of serving and deceased Home Guards personnel.
Announcing a series of welfare measures for the Home Guards on this occasion, the CM declared that a uniform allowance would now be admissible to the Home Guards volunteers. The meal allowance for those deployed on inter-district duties within the state will be raised from Rs 100 to Rs 150 per day and that the training allowance for Civil Defence Organisation volunteers will be enhanced from Rs 50 to Rs 140 per day.
Extending his greetings on the 63rd Raising Day, Dhami described the Ceremonial Parade as a glorious presentation that reflects the dedication, courage and excellence of the personnel towards national service. He added that Home Guards jawans discharge their responsibilities in the service of the state’s security and public welfare with patience, commitment, and indomitable will, even under arduous conditions. He asserted that the State Government has taken several significant decisions for the welfare of Home Guards personnel and the strengthening of the organisation.
The CM further announced that for the first time, the State Government has decided to grant 12 casual leaves to the Home Guards personnel. Maternity leave for the women Home Guards has also been introduced. In addition, an incentive of Rs 200 per day will be given to Home Guards volunteers performing duty at altitudes above 9,000 feet, similar to the benefits extended to Police and NDRF personnel. Those trained alongside SDRF personnel will also receive an incentive of Rs 100 per day.
Dhami commented that the Home Guard jawans perform their duties with complete integrity and dedication in all the circumstances, whether in rain, cold or heat. He noted their crucial role in traffic management, maintaining law and order, and successfully conducting large religious gatherings such as the Kumbh and Kanwar Yatra. He highlighted that the Home Guard Help Desks established at all four Char Dhams, along with Haridwar, are providing comprehensive assistance to devotees and tourists from across the country and abroad.
The CM also praised the swift response of Home Guard personnel during natural calamities, where they engage in relief and rescue operations with readiness and devotion. He asserted that the State Government is committed to respecting the morale and dedication of the jawans and will continue to work with full commitment towards their welfare in the future.
