

By Sunil Sonker Mussoorie, 9 Dec: The premises of Mussoorie Girls Inter College was abuzz with youthful energy, skills, and leadership enthusiasm on Tuesday, under the aegis of the Rotary Club Mussoorie. As many as 110 students from two prominent schools of Mussoorie – RN Bhargava Inter College and Mussoorie Girls Inter College – actively participated in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards 2025 Shield programme. The programme aimed to develop leadership qualities, social awareness, and character building among the youth. This prestigious programme of Rotary International is an important platform for leadership training for young people aged 14 to 30 years, through which young people not only recognise their abilities but are also inspired to bring about change in society. During the programme, experts provided students with practical and useful information on various important topics. Disaster management master trainers Raju Sahay and Sushil Singh Kaintura demonstrated measures to deal with earthquakes, fires, landslides, cloudbursts, and floods. Divisional Transport Officer Papnai apprised the students about the rules of the new Motor Vehicles Act and the importance of road safety. Dr Farah Ahmed Khan conducted an impactful session on de-addiction, informing the youth about the ill effects of narcotics and ways to stay away from them. Cyber experts from the police department, Girish, Amit Rawat, and Sanyogita Rawat, raised awareness about the increasing threats of cybercrime, online fraud, and digital security measures. These sessions not only enhanced the students’ knowledge but also prepared them to deal with real-life situations.
Rotary Club Mussoorie President Deepak Agarwal said that the goal of RYLA is not only to impart information but also to make young people capable citizens who can proudly uphold the name of society and the country in the future. He said that today’s youth are the leaders of tomorrow, and it is essential to provide them with the right direction and opportunities. The Principal of Mussoorie Girls Inter College, Prabha Thapliyal, Rotarian Manoranjan Tripathi, Rajat Agarwal, Ashwini Mittal, Shailendra Karanwal, and many other teachers and dignitaries were present at the event. The students interacted freely with the experts and asked several important questions. This unique blend of leadership, awareness, and skill proved to be a memorable experience for the students. The programme not only boosted their confidence but also inspired them to become responsible and aware citizens.
