

my uttarakhand news BureauPithoragarh, 10 Dec: Agriculture, Rural Development and Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi met ex-servicemen of the Ex-Servicemen Organisation, Pithoragarh, during his Kumaon tour today. On this occasion, he appreciated the work being done by the organisation and said that the State Government is continuously working with commitment for the welfare of soldiers and their families.
Minister Joshi announced that a hostel for the dependants and children of martyrs will soon be constructed in Haldwani, which will be named after General Bipin Chandra Joshi. He also announced the establishment of an interaction centre for ex-servicemen in the district, which will provide them with a strong platform for communication and support.
After this, Minister Ganesh Joshi visited the General BC Joshi Army Public School in Pithoragarh and paid floral tribute before the statue of the late General BC Joshi. He said that General BC Joshi has been a symbol of exemplary leadership, discipline, and dedication in the Indian Army, and his life continues to inspire the younger generation.
The Minister then inspected the District Sainik Welfare and Rehabilitation Office in Didihat and reviewed the progress of schemes being implemented in the district. The Sainik Welfare Officer informed him that representatives from all five blocks are regularly visiting to resolve the issues of ex-servicemen, serving soldiers, and war widows. It was stated that a proposal of Rs 744.08 lakh has been sent to the government for the construction of a new Sainik Welfare Office building. So far, 172 pension cases have been resolved. Minister Joshi directed officials to ensure effective implementation of schemes related to soldiers and their dependants.
On reaching Didihat during his tour, Minister Joshi was welcomed by BJP District President Girish Joshi and other party officials and workers. The Minister also listened to the problems of the workers and assured solutions.
Upon reaching his native village, Chanpatta, villagers welcomed him warmly. Minister Joshi heard their issues, resolved several matters on the spot, and instructed relevant officials to address the remaining issues promptly. He also directed horticulture department officials to ensure the availability of necessary resources at mobile service centres and to provide fertilisers and medicines to farmers on time.
Regarding the repair of roads damaged during the Didihat disaster, Minister Joshi instructed PMGSY officials to complete at the earliest the works on the Adichera–Hunera, Devisona–Garali, Sandev–Chobati–Adalgaon, Adichora–Seedi, and Didihat–Pampshyari motor roads. Officials stated that all related proposals have been sent to the government.
Present on the occasion were District President Girish Joshi, District Panchayat Chairman Jitendra Prasad, Kalpana Dewalal, District Panchayat Member Kamla Juyal, CS Bhati, Colonel Karam Singh Bisht (Retd), President Mayukh Bhatt, SDM Manjeet Singh, District Sainik Welfare Officer KS Bisht, Captain Surendra Singh, Arjuna Awardee, and officials from the Agriculture and Rural Development Departments.
