
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said increasing revenue collection for the State’s overall development is the priority of his government. The CM chaired a review meeting on the status of revenue collection for the financial year 2025-26 at the State Secretariat on Thursday. In the meeting, the CM directed the officers to pay special attention to increasing revenue collections and achieve the set targets on time. He said that the resource augmentation is being implemented in mission mode to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to make this decade the ‘decade of Uttarakhand’. A revenue target of Rs 24,015 crore was set for the financial year 2025-26 of which over 62 per cent has been achieved so far. The CM directed the departments to make coordinated and proactive efforts to achieve 100 per cent of the target in the coming period. Dhami said that Uttarakhand has been ranked first among special category States in the country and it has received a central incentive of Rs 200 crore for its outstanding performance in mining reforms. He averred that the State government is placing special emphasis on capital investment for long-term economic strength. Capital expenditure has been increased by 34 per cent, which will accelerate infrastructure development in the State and create durable assets. He added that continuous focus on policy reform, innovation and new technologies is essential to modernise and ensure financial management is accountable and delivers concrete results in the public interest. “Our objective is to ensure transparency, accountability and a governance system that delivers concrete results in the public interest. This requires all officials to adhere to strict financial discipline, improved management and collective responsibility,’’ he said. On a stern note, the CM directed the senior officers and the district magistrates to regularly monitor the status of revenue collections. He said that maximum use of AI-based technology should be made for effective control of tax evasion. Dhami said that the sub-registrar offices should be inspected regularly by DMs and on-site inspections of properties should also be conducted to check that the correct value of the property is recorded during registration. Expressing displeasure over the delay in collecting green cess from vehicles coming from outside the State, the CM directed the Transport department to begin collecting the green cess immediately. He said that the forest resources should be properly utilized in the State’s interest while also considering environmental conservation. Chief secretary Anand Bardhan and other senior officers of the State administration attended the meeting.
