Dehradun, 22 Dec: District Magistrate Savin Bansal conducted a thorough inspection of the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) area today. He also inspected the traffic arrangements, the parking facilities, exit routes and disorder spots in the area. He issued directions to departments on the spot. The visit addressed ongoing congestion and mismanagement complaints near ISBT.
The DM ordered a large vacant roadside area near the ISBT flyover on Haridwar Bypass to become a tiled parking lot. This aims to ease traffic and help commuters. During the inspection, he found the Delhi-bound buses’ exit gate closed. He showed strong displeasure. He told Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) to open it immediately. He ordered action against the Assistant Regional Manager for ignoring past orders in this regard.
Bansal also directed closure of all the unauthorised cuts under the flyover. He insisted that these must be replaced with a safe crossover. He called for organised parking beneath the flyover. He ordered the police post near the exit gate shifted elsewhere and asserted that constructions at the ISBT exit gate must be demolished. The exit needs to function fully for smooth traffic flow. Regional Transport Officer must act strictly against roadside illegal parking.
National Highways Authority officials were given orders for tiled parking along the highway near ISBT. He approved funds on the spot.
The DM stressed on urgency in traffic management. He warned against disorder, encroachments or obstructions in the ISBT area. He also stated that negligent officers would face strict action.
Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, SP City Pramod Kumar, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sadar Harigiri and Regional Transport Officer Anita Chamola were among those present. The officials from Municipal Corporation, MDDA and National Highways Authority were also present.
