Vikasnagar (Dehradun), 23 Dec: The final rites of former Purola MLA Rajesh Juwantha were performed today at Shanti Dham in Vikasnagar. The funeral saw a large gathering of mourners, including Vikasnagar MLA Munna Singh Chauhan, former MLA Nav Prabhat, and sitting Purola MLA Durgesh Lal, alongside hundreds of residents from both the Vikasnagar and Purola regions who gathered to pay their last respects.
Prior to the cremation, several dignitaries visited the residence of the departed leader to offer their condolences. Amongst those who paid floral tributes at his home was Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh, joined by numerous other supporters and local leaders.
It may be recalled that senior BJP leader Rajesh Juwantha passed away yesterday at a private hospital in Dehradun after a prolonged illness. He had switched over to BJP from Congress and had represented Purola as a Congress MLA in 2007. He had lost the 2012 polls and soon after switched over to BJP though he never got an opportunity to contest assembly elections on a BJP ticket. He was known for his easy accessibility and soft spoken approach.
Yesterday, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had expressed condolences at his passing away.
