Dehradun, 24 Dec: The election programme for the Uttaranchal Press Club Executive Elections 2026 was formally announced in a press briefing held at the club today. During a programme held at the Press Club premises, nominated Election Officer and a senior journalist Darshan Singh Rawat released the complete election schedule and provided detailed information regarding the electoral process. This announcement was preceded by the Annual General Meeting of the Club held under the chairmanship of the Club President Bhupendra Singh Kandari.
Darshan Singh Rawat stated that polling for the Executive Elections 2026, if required, will be conducted on 30 December, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The counting of votes will be held on the same day at 4 p.m. after the conclusion of polling.
He stated that the sale of nomination papers will take place on 26 and 27 December from 11.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this period, candidates will also be able to submit their duly filled nomination papers.
According to the schedule, the process of withdrawal of nominations will be held on 28 December from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The final list of candidates will be published on the same day by 5 p.m.
The Election Officer further stated that elections will be held for various posts of the Executive Committee. These posts include one post of President, one post of Senior Vice-President, one post of Junior Vice-President, one post of General Secretary, two posts of Joint Secretary, of which one post is reserved for a woman, one post of Treasurer, one post of Auditor and nine posts of Executive Member.
Assistant Election Officers Dr VK Dobhal and Laxmi Prasad Baroni were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, today, the annual general meeting of the Club was held under the chairmanship of the Club President Bhupendra Kandari. During the meeting, the Club General Secretary, Surendra Dasila, briefed the members of the activities and achievements of the Club during the year while the treasurer, Anil Chandola, presented a detailed account of the incomes and expenditure of the Club during the year and sought the approval of the House in respect of the accounts.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere at which several members put forward some key suggestions like continuation of term insurance scheme for the members and persuasion with the management of Swami Ram Hospital in Jolly Grant Hospital and with the management of Mahant Indresh Hospital for free medical checkup of the members and their treatment at 50 percent discount.
