
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Jyotirmath Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the ropeways and the railway construction projects will provide a new impetus to tourism and the economy of the State. He was addressing a gathering at 24th Band Vikas Industrial, Tourism, Farmers and Cultural Fair at Semladala Pipalkoti in Chamoli on Friday. The CM said that new development and employment opportunities are being created in the State. Work is underway on the master plan of Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines. He added that local products and tourism are being promoted through the One ‘District Two Products’, House of Himalayas, State Millet Mission, and Homestay scheme. Dhami said that at present more than 800 homestays are operating in the State and Uttarakhand is rapidly emerging as a wedding destination. The CM said that the government is embracing the principle of Antyodaya and is extending the benefits of government schemes to the last person standing on the social ladder. The government is fully committed to protect the heritage and culture of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. He averred that more than 10,000 acres of land has been freed from encroachment in the State. Strict land laws have been implemented in the State and the government is continuously working towards making Uttarakhand a centre of knowledge, education, culture and development. He said that such fairs provide a platform for local products and showcase a vibrant glimpse of folk culture. He added that all souvenirs and gifts provided by the State government are now being prepared by women from local self-help groups, strengthening rural livelihoods. Dhami called for the resolution of problems at each Panchayat level under the “Jan-Jan ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan ke Dwar” programme and appealed to the public to actively participate in them. He expressed his gratitude to local residents, traders and farmers, and added that the State government is committed to further Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s One District One Festival, Vocal for Local, and Made in India campaigns. In the programme, the CM announced the expansion of Semladala playground, development of basic facilities including drinking water on the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra route, changing the Gwaldam to Tapovan Lord Curzon route to Nanda-Sunanda route and beautification of Rajrajeshwari temple Kurud in the programme. Tharali MLA Bhupal Ram Tamta and others attended the programme.
