Mussoorie, 30 Dec: The Ankita Bhandari murder case has once again heated up the political scene. In Mussoorie, local Congress leaders and workers, under the leadership of Student Union President Pravesh Rana, staged a strong protest against the BJP government, here, today. A protest rally was taken out from Picture Palace Chowk to Green Chowk in Mussoorie, where slogans were raised against the state government and a demand was made for swift justice for Ankita Bhandari.Congress leaders Sushant Vohra, Megh Singh Kandari, Rajiv Rawat, Mahesh Chand, Gaurav Gupta, and Jagpal Gusain, who participated in the rally, levelled serious allegations against the BJP government. The leaders said that the BJP government in the state is protecting those who commit atrocities against women and criminals. They alleged that the involvement of influential people associated with the BJP in the murder of Ankita Bhandari is continuously being exposed, but despite this, the state government is not taking any concrete action.Questioning the government of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Congress leaders said that there is a big difference between the government’s words and actions. They also alleged that the state in-charge Dushyant Gautam is trying to protect himself in this entire matter, while the victim’s family has not yet received justice.The protesters said that attempts are being made to protect the “VIP” accused in this case. The Congress leaders clearly stated that the movement will continue until all the culprits involved in this case, no matter how influential they may be, are sent behind bars.Student Union President Pravesh Rana warned the BJP government of the state that, if a CBI inquiry is not announced and strict action is not taken against the culprits within 15 to 20 days, the movement will be intensified. This will include gherao of the Secretariat and the Chief Minister’s residence, and widespread protests against BJP leaders across the state.
