Dehradun, 31 Dec: A case of alleged molestation involving a female student has come to light in Dehradun, where a gym trainer has been arrested by Clement Town police following a complaint by the victim. The incident is reported to have occurred within the jurisdiction of Clement Town police station, after which the accused, Nadeem Ansari was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody today.
According to the police, the girl student had lodged a written complaint on 29 December stating that she is a BCA student at a private college in Dehradun and had been attending a gym in the Clement Town area for the past 15 days. In her statement, she alleged that the gym owner and trainer, Nadeem Ansari, had been watching her with ill intent and had been sending her objectionable messages for nearly 10 days, besides making lewd remarks. She further alleged that the trainer also molested her during this period.
The victim also alleged that on 26 December, while she was exercising at the gym, the accused forcibly caught hold of her and attempted to sexually assault her. Following the incident, on 29 December, she returned to the gym along with her brothers and some youths associated with the Bajrang Dal to confront the trainer. This led to a heated argument and a scuffle between the parties, during which the trainer was reportedly assaulted. A video of the confrontation has since gone viral on social media.
On receiving information about the disturbance, police personnel reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The accused trainer was taken into custody and brought to the Clement Town police station. Station House Officer Mohan Singh said that after completing the necessary legal formalities, Nadeem Ansari was produced before the court, which sent him to jail.
Meanwhile, Dehradun Police have issued a warning that any person found misbehaving with women or attempting to disturb communal harmony will face strict legal action, and such acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
