Dehradun, 31 Dec: Municipal Council Chairperson Meera Saklani paid a courtesy visit today to Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi at his camp office. During the meeting, the Chairperson submitted a memorandum to the Minister regarding the execution of various development and safety-related works connected to public interest and civic amenities in the Mussoorie area. On this occasion, Joshi also extended New Year greetings and best wishes to all.
Saklani informed the Cabinet Minister that several important works related to road safety and basic infrastructure in the Mussoorie municipal area have been pending for a long time, causing inconvenience to local residents as well as tourists.
Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, Cabinet Minister spoke over the telephone with officials of the MDDA and the Public Works Department and issued necessary directions. He instructed that works related to public interest and basic development be completed at the earliest on a priority basis. The Minister clearly stated that no negligence would be tolerated in works related to public safety and public convenience, and directed all departments to complete the works promptly through mutual coordination.
The memorandum mainly included the following demands: Construction of safety railings by MDDA on Spring Road from Preetam Hotel to ITBP Road, from a safety perspective; Expediting the construction of roadside railings from Picture Palace to Bade Morh; Repair of the road and installation of railings/dividers to ensure safe and organised movement from Landour Civil Road to Mandakini House route (Public Works Department); Repair and reconstruction of the damaged retaining wall near Tehri Bus Stand, Kozy Corner (Public Works Department); Improvement of drainage slopes on Mall Road to ensure smooth water drainage (Public Works Department); and Resolution of issues arising due to electric poles installed on private land in the Mussoorie area by relocating them where necessary (Electricity Department).
On this occasion, along with Municipal Council Chairperson Meera Saklani, other councillors were also present.
