PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Amid growing demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that any decision in this regard will be taken after holding consultation with her parents. Interacting with the media persons at the secretariat on Tuesday, the CM said that though sentiments of the people of the State are associated with Ankita, her mother and father are naturally most affected by this unfortunate incident. “I will interact with her parents and any decision in this regard will be taken after consultation with them and keeping in mind their sentiments, pain and aspiration,’’ he said. Dhami categorically stated that no one, no matter how powerful he may be, will not be spared if found guilty in this case. He said that the government’s top priority is to ensure justice for Ankita Bhandari and it has worked with complete transparency, sensitivity and seriousness in the case so far. Dhami said that the accused were arrested soon after their involvement in the murder of Ankita and a special investigation team (SIT) headed by IPS officer, P Renuka Devi was constituted to investigate the case. He said that the SIT thoroughly investigated the case and due to effective advocacy in the court, the three culprits were given a life sentence. Dhami said that the lower court, High Court and Supreme Court have expressed satisfaction on the investigation of the SIT in the Ankita Bhandari murder case which showcases fairness of the investigation done. The CM said that an attempt to vitiate the environment in the State is being done on the basis of an audio tape but the truth is that following an investigation the legal process has reached to its conclusion and the culprits have got stringent sentences. “A similar attempt was made during the UKSSSC paper leak case. There appears to be a stark similarity between the two cases,’’ he said. The CM averred that the State government is committed for safety and honour of the daughters.
