Dehradun, 6 Jan: The Dehradun district administration has sanctioned a modern library in Tyuni in Chakrata Development Block with an aim to strengthen educational facilities in the remote areas of the district. Inspired by the education-oriented vision of the Chief Minister and the proactive leadership of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, funds amounting to Rs 12.20 lakhs have been sanctioned for the repair and furnishing of a public library in Tyuni.
Of this total estimated cost, an initial instalment of 60 per cent, equalling Rs 7.20 lakh, has already been released to begin the works. This development follows a recent visit by District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal to Tyuni, during which local students and the Sankalp Janjatiya Utthan Foundation Committee had raised the demand for a library facility. Responding swiftly to the community’s appeal, the DM had instructed the Executive Engineer of the Rural Works Department, Dehradun Division, to prepare a formal estimate. Consequently, the proposal for repair and furniture arrangements of the public library has been approved to strengthen the educational infrastructure in this far-flung region.
The administrative process gathered pace when the Executive Engineer, Rural Works Department, submitted a detailed estimate of Rs 12.20 lakhs to the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Dehradun, on 3 December 2025. Acting on the directions of DM Bansal, the proposal was placed before the governing council meeting of the District Mineral Foundation Trust. The Chairman and members of the council accorded formal approval for a sum of Rs 12.00 lakhs.
Following this approval, a cheque for the first instalment of Rs 7.20 lakhs, representing 60 per cent of the sanctioned amount, has been issued from the designated bank account of the District Mineral Foundation Trust to the Executive Engineer, Rural Works Department, Dehradun. The remaining 40 per cent, totalling Rs 4.80 lakhs will be released upon submission of the utility certificate and verification report from a third-party agency.
By implementing the CM’s policy of ensuring equal educational opportunities in remote areas, the district administration under DM Bansal is consistently working towards result-oriented improvements in academic infrastructure. The strengthening of library facilities in a challenging terrain like Tyuni is expected to provide a vital platform for students to pursue their studies, prepare for competitive examinations and enhance their general knowledge.
Commenting on the development, Savin Bansal emphasised that the expansion of quality educational facilities across the district, particularly in remote areas, remains the foremost priority of the administration. He observed that the facilities such as libraries not only nurture a culture of reading among students but also serve as crucial support for those aspiring to succeed in competitive examinations. He also claimed that the district administration continues to take transformative steps to ensure tangible progress in the field of education.
