Dehradun, 7 Jan: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today claimed that layers of conspiracy designed to tarnish its leaders in the Ankita Bhandari murder case now stand increasingly exposed, with those orchestrating the plot soon to be unmasked. The party asserted that Congress now finds itself unnerved as the fabricated controversy it sought to inflame slips from its grasp.
State BJP president Mahendra Bhatt stated that a video-recorded conversation of the woman alleging misconduct against BJP leaders had confirmed a deliberate, pressure-driven scheme to malign the party’s state in-charge and other senior figures. He remarked that Congress, which had spearheaded the questioning, now has a lot to explain.
Bhatt noted that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had already clarified that after consultations with Ankita’s family and rigorous legal examination of the claims, all requisite investigative measures would follow. He pointed out that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) continues to probe the matter, interrogating all the relevant parties, while the government is maintaining unwavering transparency in its decisions.
Bhatt also reminded how BJP had prevented malpractices in competitive examinations and achieved unprecedented recruitments with total transparency. He also recalled that the state government had recommended a CBI inquiry into the UKPSC paper leak case and secured life sentences for the convicts in the Ankita Bhandari murder. He assured that Congress has no cause for unease, as Ankita’s parents have already received invitations for dialogue, with their inputs to undergo strict legal vetting. He accused Congress of desperation borne out a dearth of substantive issues.
Bhatt claimed that the public trust in BJP remains intact while Congress is having a delusion that misinformation can yield victory for it. The BJP leader insisted no conflict can be won through mere propaganda. He charged that Congress’s Delhi press conferences targeting top leaders was a clear show of political opportunism rather than any quest for justice for Ankita. He added that the public discerned Congress’s self-serving tactics and would deliver an apt verdict.
The BJP welcomed the court’s ruling on the petition by state in-charge and national general secretary Dushyant Gautam, viewing it as a curb on baseless, vulgar, and reputation-damaging social media campaigns. Bhatt voiced optimism that Dhami’s family discussions, coupled with identification of the accusers, would unveil the truth.
Responding to media questions at party headquarters, Bhatt endorsed the High Court order on Gautam’s petition. He decried the opposition’s persistent assaults on Gautam’s image via unverified audio-visual clips on social media as deplorable. He anticipated that judicial order would halt such unethical vilification.
On those making allegations presenting themselves to investigators with evidence, Bhatt expressed hope that clarity would soon prevail. He reaffirmed the government’s readiness for the highest-level probe should concrete proof surface, urging an end to all irrational, unfounded debates pending the ongoing inquiry’s conclusion.
