DEHRADUN, 10 Jan: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hosted a State-level workshop on the VB G RAM G scheme here on Saturday. During the workshop, the leaders vowed to take the development-oriented and welfare-centric aspects of the initiative to every household. NBJP’s National Vice President, National Co-convenor of the Jan Jagran Abhiyan and State Co-in-charge Rekha Verma stated that a developed India requires schemes based on sustainable growth rather than temporary relief. At the same time, State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed the flawed intentions behind earlier rural employment schemes, moving beyond mere nomenclature.
The workshop, held at the party headquarters, presented a detailed framework of the ‘Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission Rural’ (VB G RAM G). Alongside the State Co-in-charge and State President, State General Secretary (Organisation) Ajaey Kumar and State General Secretaries Kundan Parihar, Deepti Rawat and Tarun Bansal provided comprehensive subject-wise information on the scheme.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Rekha Verma remarked that under the leadership of Modi, the goal is to make India a developed nation by 2047, which necessitates strengthening rural sectors. She explained that the VB G RAM G scheme has been introduced to rectify the deficiencies of MGNREGA and align with the needs of a modern India. She reminded that key innovations include increasing the number of employment days to 125, ensuring payment within 15 days or providing interest on delays, higher financial allocations, and empowering Panchayats to formulate their own plans. Criticising the opposition’s “policy of lies,” she claimed that those who profited illegally from the previous system are now unsettled. She pointed out that while the opposition complains about name changes, they themselves renamed schemes after the Gandhi family more than 600 times in the past.
Bhatt emphasised that rural development is indispensable for building a ‘Viksit Bharat.’ He noted that the new scheme focuses on permanent construction and infrastructure. Enhancements such as increasing administrative expenditure to 9 per cent make the scheme more practical. To address labour shortages during peak farming seasons, a 60-day exemption has been provided. Furthermore, the scheme prioritises water conservation, rural infrastructure and disaster management. Bhatt further stressed that integrating disaster relief work into this scheme will be particularly beneficial for a state like Uttarakhand with its challenging geographical terrain, serving as a milestone in eradicating corruption in rural employment.
Ajay Kumar alerted the workers of their responsibility to convey the government’s achievements to the public. He urged them to counter rumours and confusion spread by ‘negative forces.’ He also outlined a series of programmes to be held until 28 February, including district-level press conferences, district and mandal conventions, farmer-labourer chaupals and contact campaigns. He stressed that the scheme is set to write a new chapter in rural development and that public participation should be encouraged from the outset.
Among those present on the occasion included State level office bearers , headings of the frontal organisations of the party, District Panchayat presidents from BJP, District party presidents and district in-charges.
