

CM Dhami honours Youth & Women Groups on National Youth Day

Dehradun, 12 Jan: On the occasion of National Youth Day, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami awarded women and youth groups that have performed commendable work in various fields at the Parade Ground, here, today. The first, second, and third prize-winning groups received ₹1 lakh, ₹50,000, and ₹25,000 respectively.
Women groups: 1st Prize: Dhapla, Nainital; 2nd Prize: Sema, Chamoli; 3rd Prize: Banali, Tehri Garhwal. Youth groups: 1st Prize: Mokh Malla, Chamoli; 2nd Prize: Sundarpur Raqual, Nainital; 3rd Prize: Chaudiray, Champawat.
In addition, winners of the speech competition and NSS award-winning youth were also honoured. During the event, the NSS presented a cheque of ₹2,24,320 to the Chief Minister for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Paying tribute to Swami Vivekananda, the Chief Minister said that Vivekananda was a visionary sage who reignited the spirit of cultural nationalism in a nation chained by colonial rule. His historic address at Chicago introduced the Western world to India’s spiritual strength and conveyed that the knowledge, wisdom, and values of Sanatan culture hold the key to the welfare of all humanity. Vivekananda had unwavering faith in youth and considered them the most powerful instrument for national revival.
The Chief Minister emphasised that no nation can develop economically, socially, politically, or culturally unless its youth are organised, self-reliant, and inspired by nationalism. He stated that the youth are the greatest asset of the nation, capable of realising the dream of a strong, prosperous, and self-reliant India through their hard work, talent, and determination. With proper guidance, this energy can make India not only an economic superpower but also a world leader once again.
CM Dhami highlighted the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in building a developed and self-reliant India. Schemes like Startup India, Skill India, Digital India, Make in India, Fit India, and the New Education Policy provide opportunities for youth according to their talent and potential. The state government is also committed to empowering youth through programs such as Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme; Chief Minister Youth Incentive Scheme; Chief Minister Skill Development Scheme; Deendayal Upadhyay Rural Skill Development Scheme.
These initiatives provide training, technical support, and financial assistance to youth.
The Chief Minister further stated that the employment landscape is rapidly changing due to technological innovation and global shifts, creating new opportunities while old ones fade. Therefore, it is essential to make youth future-ready. He noted that Uttarakhand, the land of Sanatan culture, consciousness, philosophy, and spirituality, was where Swami Vivekananda also undertook penance and gained knowledge. The government has identified all such locations to create a Swami Vivekananda Corridor in the state.
Minister of Sports & Youth Welfare Rekha Arya said that Swami Vivekananda was a multi-talented personality who established the supremacy of Sanatan values and Indian culture globally. His teachings and sense of nationalism will continue to inspire generations. She added that under the leadership of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, every sector in the state is working toward fulfilling PM Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.
On this occasion, MLA Khajan Das, Special Principal Secretary (Sports) Amit Sinha, and Director, Sports, Dr Ashish Chauhan were also present.
