Dehradun, 13 Jan: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday offered prayers with full rituals at the sacred Mata Rankochi Temple in Champawat district, seeking happiness and prosperity for the state. He also participated in a public interaction programme organized at the temple premises and directly interacted with the local residents.
Under the “Chief Minister Culture Promotion Initiative”, the Chief Minister distributed “Art, Tradition and Identity” kits to priests of historic temples in Champawat district. These kits included musical instruments, religious books, worship materials, and other cultural items. The objective of this initiative is to realise the vision of a Drug-Free India and Drug-Free Devbhoomi.
From the Mata Rankochi Temple premises, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 20 development projects for Champawat district worth ₹170.15 crore. This included the inauguration of 9 schemes worth ₹33.95 crore and the foundation laying of 11 schemes worth ₹136.20 crore. During the programme, beneficiaries from various departments were also provided with certificates and assistance materials.
The Chief Minister made seven major announcements for the development of Champawat, which include: Flood protection works in Seem, Khet, Chuka and Saurai areas; beautification of various temples in the Talladesh region; allocation of ₹2.5 crore for smooth organisation of Purnagiri Fair 2026; blacktopping of Manchkari Motor Road in Champawat Assembly constituency and Ramyala–Gagri–Damtola Motor Road; expansion of patient facilities including a lift in the under-construction Critical Care Unit at District Hospital Champawat; establishment of an Ayushman Arogya Mandir (ANM sub-centre) in Gram Sabha Need; and provision of 15 nali land for construction of an Integrated Soldiers’ Complex in Champawat.
Addressing the public interaction programme, Chief Minister Dhami said that Champawat is a land rich in faith, culture, and history, where faith is not merely a form of worship but a guiding force in life. He emphasised that the true strength of any state lies in its culture. The development of Mata Rankochi Temple, he said, is not just a construction project but a strong effort towards cultural renaissance.
Appreciating the ongoing development works in Champawat district, the Chief Minister said that the government’s core mantra is “Government of the people, at the doorstep of the people”.
Through public interaction programmes organised at the Nyay Panchayat level, a large number of public grievances have been resolved and eligible beneficiaries have received benefits of government schemes.
Chief Minister Dhami stated that through the coordinated efforts of faith, culture, dialogue, and development, Champawat will emerge as an ideal, empowered, and self-reliant district of Uttarakhand in the coming years. He called upon all citizens to strengthen the collective resolve for cultural preservation, development, and public participation.
On this occasion, BJP District President Govind Samant, Tanakpur Municipal Chairman Vipin Verma, Banbasa Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Rekha Devi, Champawat Block Chief Anchala Bohra, Champawat Municipal Chairperson Prema Pandey, BJP State Minister Nirmal Mahra, MLA representatives Prakash Tiwari and Deepak Rajwar, District General Secretary Mukesh Kalkhudia, District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Pithoragarh Rekha Yadav, Suraj Prahari, Shankar Pandey, along with a large number of public representatives, officials, and villagers were also present.
