Dehradun, 12 Jan: The State Government has approved the appointment of a dozen specialist doctors in various faculties at Government Doon Medical College and Pt Ramsumer Shukla Government Medical College, Rudrapur. With the appointment of these specialists, the shortage of faculty members in the medical colleges will be addressed, and medical students will receive better education and training. This will also promote research activities in the colleges and ensure improved treatment facilities for patients in the affiliated hospitals.
Under the Department of Medical Education, the State Government has been continuously appointing specialist doctors in government medical colleges across the state to ensure high-quality education and advanced training for students. For this purpose, an Interview Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University, which is selecting specialist doctors through walk-in interviews.
In this process, the Selection Committee has selected twelve specialist doctors, whose appointments have now been approved by the State Government. Of these, eight specialists have been appointed to Government Doon Medical College, while four specialists have been posted at Rudrapur Medical College.
For Doon Medical College, the Selection Committee has selected Dr Brajendra Nath Tripathi for the post of Professor in the Radio Diagnosis Department. Additionally, the following doctors have been selected for the post of Assistant Professor: Dr Manish Kumar – Microbiology; Dr Sanobar Shamim – Blood Bank; Dr Mayank Singhal – Orthopaedics;
Dr Sara Guleria – Antenatal Child Care;
Dr Ruchi Karnatak – Maternity and Child Health Care; Dr Pooja Sangole – Anaesthesia; Dr Ishita Bahukhandi – Anaesthesia.
Similarly, for Rudrapur Medical College, the following doctors have been selected for the post of Assistant Professor: Dr Prerna Chhabra – Obstetrics and Gynaecology; Dr Lalit Singh Pokhariya – ENT; Dr Mayuri Shrivastava – Microbiology; Dr Chirag Saini – Dermatology.
All the selected specialist doctors have been appointed on a contractual basis for a period of three years or until regular appointments are made to these posts, whichever is earlier. With the deployment of these specialists, there will be a significant improvement in academic activities, research work, and clinical services in the medical colleges. This will benefit both the students pursuing medical education and the patients receiving treatment at the hospitals.
“Appointments of a dozen more specialist doctors have been made in Government Doon Medical College and Rudrapur Medical College. The appointment of faculty members will not only provide high-quality education to medical students but will also enhance the quality of research and clinical services in the colleges,” stated Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister of Medical Health and Medical Education, Government of Uttarakhand.
