Dehradun, 15 Jan: The first Atal Community Innovation Centre of Uttarakhand was inaugurated at Uttaranchal University here today.
The Centre is established by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, Government of India.
It is a flagship initiative to create and promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the country. AIM’s objective is to develop new programmes and policies for fostering innovation in different sectors of the economy, provide platforms and collaboration opportunities for different stakeholders, and create an umbrella structure to oversee the innovation & entrepreneurship ecosystem of the country.
The Centre was inaugurated by Minister Subodh Uniyal, along with President, Uttaranchal University, Jitendra Joshi, Vice President Ankita Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof Dharam Buddhi, Director, Research & Innovation, Prof Rajesh Singh, Programme Director, AIM, Pramit Dash, and Vitasta Tiwari.
Minister Subodh Uniyal emphasised the requirement of innovation and entrepreneurship for the underserved communities of Uttarakhand to stop migration from hilly areas. He said the state has innovative young minds who can be the milestone for the new ideas and products.
Jitendra Joshi congratulated the team for their efforts and encouraged innovative traditional ideas of Uttarakhand. He added that the centre will facilitate the youth of Uttarakhand with infrastructure and facilities.
Ankita Joshi emphasised the betterment of underserved communities and promised to be the key role and bridge for providing opportunities to new entrepreneurs.
Prof Dharam Buddhi shared his views on the startup ecosystem at the university and mentioned that it has 21 startups with government-funded products, which shows the University’s initiatives for the students and their ideas.
Pramit Das emphasised that to be a developed nation, the GDP per capita to be enhanced. This can be done only through Innovation on a large scale.
Prof Rajesh Singh proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Anita Gehlot, CEO of ACIC UU Foundation, anchored the event. Directors, HoDs, faculty members, and representatives from NGOs & Industries were also present.
