Uttarkashi, 17 Jan: Minister Ganesh Joshi today participated as the Chief Guest in the historic Magh Mela (Badahata Ku Tholu) held at the Ramlila Ground in Uttarkashi. On this occasion, he sought blessings from the Doli of Hari Maharaj Nagraj and Sameshwar Maharaj. Extending his greetings to the local residents on the occasion of the Magh Mela, he highlighted the fair’s historical, cultural, and social significance.
The Minister stated that the Magh Mela is a symbol of Uttarkashi’s rich folk culture, traditions, and mutual brotherhood. He said that such traditional fairs not only preserve cultural heritage but also help connect the younger generation with their roots. He emphasized that the State Government is continuously working towards the preservation and promotion of folk culture, traditions, and religious events.
He further stated that sustained efforts are being made to enhance women’s livelihoods through Self-Help Groups. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of creating 3 crore “Lakhpati Didis”, he informed that more than 1.65 lakh Lakhpati Didis have already been created in the state. During the Magh Mela, visitors witnessed vibrant displays of traditional folk dances, cultural performances, and local products.
Present on the occasion were Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan, District President Nagendra Chauhan, District Panchayat President Ramesh Chauhan, Bhatwari Block Pramukh Mamta Panwar, District Panchayat Members Vijay Badhani, Anita Negi, Bina Chauhan, Jyoti Rana, along with local public representatives, administrative officials, eminent citizens, and a large number of local residents.
