DEHRADUN, 17 Jan: BJP leader Ravindra Jugran met Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal regarding the recent order passed by the Supreme Court concerning the areas of Bapu Gram, Meera Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Bees Bigha, Suman Vihar, Shivaji Nagar, Geeta Nagar, Amit Gram, Gumaniwala, Veerpur Khurd, and Nandu Farm.
During the meeting, Jugran informed the Forest Minister that a population of nearly 68,000 people, residing in these areas for the past 70 years, is being affected by the Supreme Court’s order. He stated that the Supreme Court has presently sought a status report, asking for details of vacant land parcels, excluding the inhabited areas.

Ravindra Jugran pointed out that the land use of constructed houses and vacant plots is the same, and the affected residents are apprehensive that while the Court has currently sought details of vacant land, it may in the future also seek the status of built-up properties, which could potentially lead to eviction proceedings.
He further apprised the Forest Minister that for the past 70 years, the population residing in these areas has been provided with all basic civic amenities by the government and administration themselves. He also stated that efforts are currently underway to declare this area as a revenue village.
Ravindra Jugran requested the Forest Minister to ensure relief for the affected population and urged that the State Government place a complete 70-year record before the Supreme Court, highlighting that although government documents classify the area as forest land, the ground reality is that thousands of people have been living there for decades in permanent houses.
Minister Uniyal assured Jugran that the State Government is fully aware of the entire matter and will make all possible efforts to provide relief to the affected population. He further assured that any future course of action would be taken after taking the Supreme Court into confidence.
