Dehradun, 23 Jan: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a meeting to review matters and projects related to Northern Railway at the Secretariat here today with Moradabad Divisional Railway Manager Vinita Srivastava. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various railway-related proposals and ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects in the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed the District Magistrate, Dehradun, to ensure a joint survey for the Rishikesh–Doiwala bypass railway line project in coordination with the Railway authorities, the Chief Wildlife Warden and Rajaji National Park, with regard to the use of 3.62 hectares of forest land belonging to Rajaji National Park and the Forest Department. He instructed that a detailed inspection report based on the joint survey be submitted to the government at the earliest.
Also reviewing the proposed Dehradun–Mohand–Saharanpur tunnel-based railway line project, Bardhan directed that the final location survey of the project be conducted and the updated status communicated to the government without any further delay. He also urged the Railway authorities to share the master plan for the expansion of Harrawala railway station with the state government, and directed that a joint survey be conducted by the Railway and the district administration, followed by submission of the inspection report to the government at the earliest.
In view of ensuring smooth traffic management and hassle-free travel for pilgrims during the Kumbh Mela 2027, the Chief Secretary urged the Railway officials to prepare a comprehensive traffic management plan in coordination with the District Magistrate, Haridwar, SSP, Haridwar, the Mela Officer and the Government Railway Police (GRP). He also directed that slope stabilisation work near the railway tunnel in the Haridwar area be completed expeditiously and that a detailed action taken report be submitted to the government.
Among those present on this occasion were Transport Secretary Brijesh Kumar Sant, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi and several senior officials of the Railways.
