

my uttarakhand news BureauDehradun, 27 Jan: The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), Rajpur Road, celebrated the 77th Republic Day with immense fervour and patriotic zeal on 26 Januar.
The main ceremony took place at the grounds of the Model School for Persons with Visual Disabilities, where officers, staff, and students of the institute participated with great enthusiasm. The celebrations commenced in an atmosphere steeped in patriotism with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the collective rendition of the National Anthem and the Flag Song. This was followed by a magnificent March Past led by the Security Department.
On this occasion, Amit Sharma, Principal of the Model School for Persons with Visual Disabilities, addressed the gathering. Sharma recalled the historic pride of ‘Poorna Swaraj’ and highlighted how the Constitution paved the way for India to transform into a resilient democratic nation. He expressed his gratitude to every department and employee, appreciating their dedication toward the institute’s progress.The Chief Guest, Sanjay Bhargava, Regional Chief of HUDCO, Dehradun, addressed the ceremony and lauded the institute’s empowering role in the holistic development of students with visual disabilities and their integration into the mainstream. The highlights of the programme included soul-stirring patriotic cultural performances by the students. During the ceremony, awards were distributed to the students of the ‘Model School’ and the ‘Department of Skill Development and Economic Empowerment’ for their outstanding achievements in academics and sports.The event was moderated by Naresh Nayal, PEI of the Model School. Additionally, the visually impaired radio presenters from the institute’s community radio station, 91.2 NIVH Hello Doon, celebrated the 77th Republic Day through a series of patriotic programmes.
