Dehradun, 30 Jan: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed a press conference organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Government of India, Dehradun, on the subject of the Government of India’s PRAGATI portal. During the conference, Dhami briefed the journalists about various central government projects underway in the state.During the press conference, Dhami stated that the PRAGATI (Pro-Active and Timely Implementation) portal was created in 2015 for the quick review and resolution of projects, schemes, and to address public grievances. Dhami said that the PRAGATI portal was launched under the Digital India programme to review various schemes operating in the country. The PRAGATI portal monitors the flagship programmes of the Government of India and also resolves the problems encountered. This ensures that development schemes are implemented rapidly on the ground. The Chief Minister stated that, since 2014, infrastructure, transportation, railways, IT, healthcare, and air connectivity projects have progressed rapidly in the country. He informed media that, currently, 42 projects with a cumulative investment of Rs 3.50 lakh crore are being monitored in Uttarakhand, of which 15 high-value projects worth Rs 1.22 lakh crore are being reviewed under the PRAGATI mechanism. Of these, 10 projects have been successfully completed so far, and work is progressing rapidly on the remaining 32 projects. Of the 32 projects under implementation, 12 are being monitored under the PRAGATI portal. These include 19 road and highway projects, 3 IT/ITES projects, 3 power generation projects, 2 railway projects, and one project each in agriculture, industry and commerce, education, health, and waste and water management.Chief Minister Dhami added that work on major projects like the Char Dham road project has progressed rapidly. Similarly, the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line is a major national project that will connect remote areas through the mountains. A significant portion of this project has been completed, and upon its completion, the region will become crucial for tourism and for pilgrims visiting the Char Dham. It will also gain strategic importance, as the railway line to Karnaprayag will provide an alternative route during the monsoon season when roads are often blocked. This railway line will make travel easier for people.CM Dhami expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of all the people of U’khand for the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway project. He said that this project will benefit all tourists from India and abroad visiting Rishikesh, Haridwar, Mussoorie, Dhanaulti, and Dehradun. He added that work is progressing rapidly on all the hydroelectric power projects, which are extremely important for the state, and their progress is being reviewed daily through the Government of India’s PRAGATI portal. Today, the dream of a self-reliant India, a developed India, and Digital India is coming true, and the PRAGATI portal is playing a crucial role in this.Regarding the obstacles faced by hydropower projects due to the Bhagirathi Eco-Sensitive Zone, the Chief Minister said that the state and central governments are working together to overcome this challenging problem. He said that the central government has taken a major and important decision with the aim of building modern infrastructure in Uttarakhand and giving new impetus to the state’s economic progress.Dhami also stated that Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has sanctioned an additional loan amount of Rs 734 crore for Uttarakhand under the ‘Special Assistance Scheme to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) 2025-26’ and Rs 25 crore for land reforms in urban areas. With this double allocation, the total assistance provided by the Centre to Uttarakhand under the SASCI scheme in the current financial year has now reached an impressive figure of Rs 1,806.49 crore. On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, saying that this financial assistance, inspired by the Prime Minister, will help in making this decade Uttarakhand’s decade and realising the vision of a ‘Developed Uttarakhand’.
