Haridwar, 23 Feb: Haridwar MP and former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat today chaired a review meeting with senior officials of the Irrigation Department regarding the Bahadrabad–Iqbalpur canal project. During the meeting, Rawat underlined the rising irrigation needs of farmers in the region and reviewed the canal’s current condition and also discussed water flow capacity, technical hurdles and possible improvement measures that can be incorporated with regard to the canal project.
Rawat also directed the officials to advance the project with a time-bound and result-oriented action plan so that farmers receive uninterrupted and adequate irrigation facilities. He emphasised that strengthening water management is vital for the growth of agriculture and that any laxity in this regard will not be acceptable.
He made it clear that the core objective of this initiative is to ensure timely water supply to farmers, safeguard their crops and move the region towards agricultural prosperity.
On this occasion, Prof Narendra Singh and former Haridwar District Panchayat President Subhash Verma were also present.
