HALDWANI, 28 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday visited the Little Miracle Foundation, popularly known as Thaal Seva and rendered his services as a Thaal Sevak on this occasion. He also personally presented utensils and other items to Team Thaal Seva. Senior journalist Dinesh Mansehra, currently working with Panchjanya, is the Founder- president of this service.
On the occasion, Dhami reminded that since 2018, Thaal Seva has been providing meals at Rs 5 to attendants accompanying patients at the Medical College. Without any government assistance, approximately 1,000 to 1,200 people partake of meals here daily. So far, nearly 30 lakh thaalis have been served without a single day’s break. He said that once every month, his family also sponsors Thaal Seva, and as Saturday was the designated day of service, he came personally to serve in the capacity of a Thaal Sevak. He extended his best wishes to Team Thaal Seva and remarked that such initiatives, supported through public participation, should be undertaken in all cities.
Chief Minister Dhami was welcomed by Umang Vasudeva, president of Team Thaal Seva, along with other members, who also presented him with a memento. The Chief Minister on this occasion, personally distributed food to the needy and also assessed the quality of the meal himself.
In another significant development, Team Thaal Seva, in the presence of Chief Minister Dhami, also facilitated the provision of an artificial leg to Vishal, a resident of Bajpur. On the occasion, artificial limb specialist Kavita Bhatt, Dr Gaurav Singhal, social worker Shyam Agarwal, Bhoomesh Agarwal and others were present.
It is noteworthy that since October 2018, Team Thaal Seva has been operating continuously through crowd-funding on social media near Sushila Tiwari Hospital, providing meals to attendants of hospital patients for only Rs 5.
Members of the organisation including Rajeev Wahi, Rajeev Bagga, Rakshit Verma, Praveen Mittal, Rahul Varshney, Girish Gupta, Sanjay Bagga, Atul Verma, Founder-President Dinesh Mansehra, Swati Kapoor, Kanika Vasudeva, Reena Mansehra and others apprised the CM about the ongoing clothing service and medical assistance initiatives being run alongside Thaal Seva.
It may be reminded here that the members of the public also associate with the organisation as Thaal Sevaks on occasions such as birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other memorable days, thereby extending their support. The organisation provides meals to the needy at a nominal cost of Rs 5.
The voluntary organisation Little Miracle Foundation had begun the noble service of providing meals to the needy at just Rs 5 under the name “Thaal Seva”. The initiative was launched on 19 October 2018, on the auspicious occasion of Vijay Dashami, near the city’s largest medical facility, Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital. The objective behind starting Thaal Seva was to make available affordable and nutritious meals to people who travel from remote hills for treatment and to their accompanying family members.
