Dehradun, 5 Mar: A colourful Holi Milan celebration was organised at the Lok Bhavan here, on Wednesday, on the auspicious occasion of Holi. The event was attended by the Governor, Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd), and the Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Cabinet Ministers Dhan Singh Rawat and Ganesh Joshi, the First Lady Gurmeet Kaur, the Chief Minister’s spouse, Geeta Dhami, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Director General of Police Deepam Seth, Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, along with many distinguished citizens, social workers, members of social organisations, and officials were also present.
All the attendees greeted the Governor and the Chief Minister and extended their heartfelt wishes on the occasion of Holi. People celebrated by applying colour and gulal on each other and shared the joy of the festival.
On this occasion, the Governor extended warm greetings and congratulations to every citizen of India, especially the people of Uttarakhand. He said that this festival symbolises joy and happiness, which is a blessing from God. He highlighted “harmony” as the most important aspect of the festival, where people come together with love and affection.
The Governor added that the meaning of colours reflects how all the colours created by God unite to symbolise unity and togetherness. He said that the way people celebrate festivals together sends a powerful message of unity and humanity to the entire world.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also extended his Holi greetings to the people of the state. He said that the festival of Holi represents the rich cultural heritage of India and provides an opportunity to strengthen brotherhood, harmony, and social unity. He expressed hope that the festival of colours would bring new energy, enthusiasm, and positivity into everyone’s lives and that Uttarakhand would continue to progress on the path of development, prosperity, and growth.
