PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Bharadisain Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Uttarakhand has been recognised as a leading State in the country in the field of financial management, fiscal discipline and good governance. Intervening in the discussion during zero hour on the fifth day of the Budget session of Vidhan Sabha on Friday, CM said Uttarakhand’s fiscal management has been praised in the Fiscal Health Index 2026 (Report 2023-24) released by the NITI Aayog. Similarly, Uttarakhand was ranked second in the North-Eastern and Himalayan States category. This achievement is a result of the State’s robust policies adopted to increase revenue, improve expenditure quality, manage deficits and manage debt, he said. The chief minister said that Uttarakhand has consistently demonstrated good performance in the area of financial discipline. Uttarakhand also ranked second among the Himalayan States with special status in the Arun Jaitley Financial Management Report which reflects the State’s strong financial system and responsive governance. Dhami added that the Uttarakhand government has fully complied with the standards set in the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act (FRBM). The State has maintained a revenue surplus and the fiscal deficit has also been kept within the prescribed limits of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). He said that the State government’s work, including transparent financial policies, effective use of resources and a long-term economic vision, is yielding positive results.
