Dehradun, 13 Mar: The Central Library, the School of Applied & Life Sciences (SALS), and the Division of Research & Innovation (DRI), are jointly organising a Two-Day Workshop on Scientific Writing and Quality Research Publishing on 13–14 March at the Uttaranchal University, here. The workshop witnessed the participation of nearly 60 delegates, today, including, faculty members, researchers, scholars, students and Library and Information Science professionals from various institutions across Uttarakhand and nearby regions. The workshop commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Ankita Joshi, Vice President, Prof Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, along with other dignitaries.
Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Dr Ramveer Tanwar expressed his gratitude to the speakers and participants for their valuable presence and emphasised the importance of developing strong scientific writing skills for quality research publication.
Prof Dharam Buddhi appreciated the commendable efforts of the organisers in promoting knowledge-sharing initiatives. He encouraged research scholars, faculty members, and library professionals to stay updated with the evolving trends in scientific writing and research publishing. He also highlighted the best practices adopted by Uttaranchal University to promote academic excellence, research, and innovation.
Following the inauguration, the workshop featured a series of insightful and engaging sessions delivered by distinguished resource persons. The sessions included: “Ethics in Scientific Writing and Types of Scientific Articles”, delivered by Prof Ajay Singh, Dean, Research; “Ethical Frontiers: Responsible AI Use in Academic Research” by Roshni Krishnasamy, representing CACTUS Communications, Mumbai; “Harnessing AI in the Research and Learning Ecosystem – From Idea to Impact” by Sanjay Grover, CEO of Knowledge Movers and Shakers, Bangalore.
In the post-lunch session, Dr Rakesh Bhutiani, Executive Editor of the Scopus-indexed Environment Conservation Journal, delivered an informative talk on “Quality Paper Writing and Selection of Journals”, guiding participants on choosing appropriate journals and improving research publication quality. Other talks on the second day will be “Writing Transdisciplinary Research Articles” by Prof Rajesh Singh, Director, Division of Research and Innovations (DRI); “Referencing, citation styles, reference management software: how to avoid plagiarism?” by Dr Sanjeev K Sunny, Officiating Librarian, IIT Roorkee; and “Process of Writing Scientific Paper by Dr Shri Ram, Librarian at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, Punjab.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr Ramveer Tanwar, University Librarian, with the support of the organising committee members including Dr Midhu Kurian, Dr Vibhuti Chandrakar, Dr Vandita Pandey, Shivangi Baghel, Arun Singh Thakur, Muktendra Rawat, and Varun Handa, along with other dedicated staff members.
